Girls’ Trip to Cancun: Fun, Sun & Ultimate R&R at Hyatt Ziva

In April 2024, my three girlfriends and I took a much-needed girls’ trip to Cancun, Mexico, with one goal in mind: fun, sun, and serious relaxation. With busy schedules and limited travel dates, we wanted a destination that was easy to reach, had an all-inclusive experience, and allowed us to unwind in luxury. Hyatt Ziva Cancun checked all the boxes, and thanks to a combination of points, miles, and strategic planning, we kept costs down while maximizing comfort.

Flights

We flew United Airlines from O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Cancun International Airport (CUN). Before boarding, we kicked off our trip in style at the United Club Lounge, thanks to a mix of my friend’s United Club Credit Card (which allows the cardholder plus two guests in) and United Explorer Credit Card lounge passes (which provide two free lounge visits per year). Having a comfortable place to relax before our flight made the trip feel even more special from the start.

For my flights, I paid $253 cash for my outbound flight, but for my return, I transferred 28,200 Chase Ultimate Rewards points to United MileagePlus and covered the taxes with $64.68 in cash. My total flight cost came to $317.68, but by using points for my return, I saved $364. Since we booked just two months in advance and had limited date flexibility, award pricing wasn’t ideal, but I was grateful to use points to offset the cost.

Hotel

For our stay, we chose Hyatt Ziva Cancun, an all-inclusive beachfront resort with stunning ocean views, incredible dining options, and plenty of spaces to relax. Since this was a Category C Hyatt property, award nights ranged from 21,000–29,000 points depending on demand. Our visit fell under peak pricing, so I redeemed 87,000 World of Hyatt points (29,000 per night) for my three-night stay. The cash rate for the same stay would have been $3,326.09, making this an incredible redemption!

The resort itself was everything we hoped for—multiple pools, beachfront access, a spa, and an adults-only section, which added to the relaxing atmosphere. Since this was an all-inclusive property, all meals, drinks, and entertainment were included, making it an easy and stress-free choice for a girls’ getaway.

Activities

Rather than planning excursions or overpacking our itinerary, we focused on rest and relaxation. The best decision we made? Renting a cabana for both of our full days at the resort.

For $149 per day, we secured a private cabana from 9 AM to 6 PM, complete with:
Personalized butler service
Fresh coconut water & aloe spray
Mini-massages
A special food and drink menu

At Hyatt Ziva Cancun, poolside food and drink service is exclusive to cabana rentals, so having one meant we could enjoy endless cocktails and snacks without ever leaving our loungers. The experience was worth every penny—between soaking up the sun, cooling off in the infinity pool, and being pampered by the resort staff, it was the ultimate luxury.

Dining

One of the highlights of our stay at Hyatt Ziva Cancun was experiencing the variety of dining options available on the resort. With seven restaurants to choose from, we had the opportunity to enjoy a mix of casual bites, international flavors, and elegant dining experiences.

We kicked off our trip with lunch at Chevy’s, a laid-back spot serving classic American comfort food. Their burgers and fries hit the spot after a morning of travel, setting the tone for a relaxing getaway. That evening, we opted for a more interactive dining experience at The Moongate, where we enjoyed a fun teppanyaki dinner. Watching the chefs cook right in front of us added a lively and entertaining element to our meal, making it a memorable first night.

Each morning, we started our day at Casa del Cafe, the resort’s coffee shop, where we grabbed fresh pastries and our daily caffeine fix. It became a morning ritual—quick, convenient, and always delicious. On our second night, we dined at La Bastille, an adults-only French restaurant, which quickly became our favorite. The refined ambiance, impeccable service, and exquisite dishes made for a truly special dining experience. From rich, buttery sauces to perfectly cooked meats, every bite was a delight.

For our third night, we opted for a more traditional Italian dinner at Lorenzo’s, where we enjoyed handmade pasta and wood-fired pizza in a warm, inviting setting. It was the perfect way to unwind and indulge in comforting flavors. Before heading to the airport on our last morning, we had a sit-down breakfast at Tradewinds, enjoying a leisurely meal with a beautiful view before saying goodbye to paradise.

With so many great options, dining at Hyatt Ziva Cancun was more than just a necessity—it was a key part of our experience, offering a mix of casual, lively, and elegant meals to match every mood and craving. Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee, an upscale dinner, or an interactive meal, this resort has something for everyone!

Final Thoughts

Absolutely! Hyatt Ziva Cancun delivered the perfect mix of relaxation, great food, and luxury, making it an ideal spot for a stress-free girls' trip. The adults-only areas, incredible service, and oceanfront views made it feel extra special, and the ability to use points and miles significantly reduced our costs.

Would I stay here again? Without a doubt. And next time, I might even stay longer!
